Sharing and Using Information Team

Description: Importance of access to data and sharing/using information:

  • Access to data is critical for public agencies and private companies for operations and maintenance activities, as well as for the and academia to conduct research for planning and deployment of new transportation products and services.
  • Access to and sharing harmonized data is essential to the operation, integration, and connectivity of mature and emerging transportation systems, services, and products that are highly data dependent.
  • As vehicles and travelers cross jurisdictional boundaries, data and information sharing among service providers and other enabling systems supporting travel on the surface transportation system are key components for the deployment of next generation of integrated and interoperable transportation systems.

Potential Benefits of Sharing and Using Information: investment; public good; advancement; and performance; and risk Management.

Action plan:

  • Develop research problem statements
  • Provide feedback to other organizations on research needs and priorities
  • Propose and support webinars, workshops, panel, poster sessions for the TRB Annual Meetings
  • Propose and conduct workshops at other industry events
